By air

The closest major airport serving the Hood River area is Portland International Airport (PDX).

  • Portland International Airport (PDX): Located approximately 60 miles west of Hood River.
  • From the Airport: Once you land at PDX, we strongly recommend renting a car for the drive to Hood River and local transport. Alternatively, ground transportation services (see Transfer & Taxi below) are available.

While ride-sharing services (like Uber or Lyft) may be limited in Hood River, several local and regional options are available for airport transfers or local short-distance trips.

  • Private Airport Transfers: For a direct and comfortable ride from PDX, several private shuttle and transfer services operate to and from Hood River. (Client to insert specific recommended company names/links here.)
  • Local Taxis/Shuttles: Taxis can be arranged via the front desk for local transport to downtown restaurants or the windsurfing launch areas.

Amtrak's Empire Builder route passes through nearby cities, but direct train service to Hood River is limited. This is typically a less convenient option than driving or taking the bus.
